Terminal Objective

Today we will learn about classroom culture, install needed programs, and learn success tips

Principles for effectiveness

  • Put Windows Users in One Breakout Room and Mac & Linux Users in another breakoutroom
  • Make sure to review the material listed in the slides everything is not for everyone
  • Focus on making sure your students have the basics

Basics

  • They have NodeJS
  • They Have Slack and can use it
  • They have Zoom
  • They have a github account
  • They have bash based terminal (not powershell)
  • They have a Text Editor (VSCode)

Objectives

  • If Learners have the basics they can be successful in the class, don't focus on anything beyond that
  • Let advanced students follow additional prompts to add additional things
  • Let those advanced students know that they will have to maintain there computer on their own
  • This will let the advanced students feel like they have something to do, and also make it easy for you to provide them some support
  • Tell the advanced students, anything they do outside of what you provided them will not be supported by you in class because you can't verify that random stack overflow posts and reddit threads are doing things compatible with our perscholas curriculum
